Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and i've been trying to figure something out before I buy my mortars for the 4th.

So i'm going to buy a dr11 mortar rack for my consumer shells, but I have some 3" shells and I can't find a 6 shot rack for the shells that's already built. I am willing to build it myself but if I can save the time that would be good too. Would getting the 12 shot rack from mortar supply work for a 6 shot 3" tubes considering that rack is meant for smaller tubes. I'm sorry if I'm not making sense. I just want someone to point me in the right direction here so I don't screw anything up or waste money.

This is the 12 shot rack i'm talking about for 6 shots of 3 inchers

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure I understand your question fully. Consumer shells will work fine with DR11 tubes. 3" Diameter shells are 1.3 Display fireworks and require proper licensing, permits, and insurance to legally have, purchase, and use. You can find more info on obtaining that here. Shooting off 3" shells illegally is a very risky game and it's not a matter of if you get caught but when. In addition there are many safety concerns with Display fireworks. If there is an accident you could lose everything. I'm not trying to be dramatic or take away your fun but I just want you to fully realize the difference between consumer and display fireworks.

To answer your question regarding that rack I would not advise using that rack for 3" shells as it is not the right size. You would need a proper rack with the proper tubes. You can build 3" racks pretty easily with some lumber from your local home depot.

Where are you roughly located? Maybe we can point you in the direction of a local fireworks club in your area that you could check out and they could help you get more experience with 1.3 product.
